Hello, my friends and followers, sorry that I couldn’t write #reviews in last time. Today was the first review I wrote in a long time and I mostly did this with my speech recognition software, which worked surprisingly well. I wasn’t so much on because writing hurts too much my hands and is currently not so good for my #health. But I don’t want to lose touch with my friends and followers. I also didn’t want to wait any longer to write the review „Queen of the Dawn“ by Kimberly Loth, which I hoped you enjoyed. Maybe I even will talk about my health condition, yet I don’t plan this in the next days. Please bear in mind that the software is not perfect. Thank you. Hope you have a good time and that you will enjoy the upcoming #weekend. Happy reading! Kind regards, Butterfly #happyreading #goodhealth #bookstagramm #bookworm #booknerd #bücherwurm #offline #enjoylife #illness

Hello, my friends and followers, this time I've something Christmassy for you, but told a bit differently than most Christmas stories you know. It is an #entertaining and #thrilling short story written by the German author Chriz Wagner. The cover: It is mostly in blue colours. On the right is a dark tree, below is a fence and in the left upper corner, you can see the sledge of Santa with his #reindeer and the moon in silvery light. The typeface is soft and friendly and adapted for younger readers. The story: Lucie and her parents walk around the Christmas market until Lucie discovers a jumping jack which was a former marionette and is wearing a blue and white suit with stars on it and a cap which has an aluminum spot on it. Everything around them is decorated with tinsels, garlands and glitter balls. Lucie begs that her parents should buy her the jumping jack, but her cries don't affect them. However, another kid gets the jumping jack and all seems to be forgotten, when the Nicholaus suddenly arrives with many exciting presents. He has all kinds of toys and plush pets and every child want a gift of course. But is everything as it seems? An intense, #spooky and well implemented fairy tale, based on the stories of Saint Nicholas in the past. I recommend it to all young readers in the age of 12 and older. 5 Stars!!! #christmassy #books #bücher #bookstagram #shortstory #germanbooks #santa #nicholaus #saintnicholaus

Hello, my dear followers and friends, The Cover: On the upper part, there are three young women: on the left, the dark-haired Chelsea with a blue strapless top, in the middle Kyra with her blonde hair and a light brown hat with a white ribbon around it and on the right, Jen with her cinnamon-coloured hair and a turquoise top. It seems to be a fine #summer day with only a few clouds. Below them is the big city Vancouver. The typeface for the title is also turquoise and cheery and well suitable for a Chick-lit #novel. The story: The novel is about the three best friends Chelsea, Kyra and Jen, who know each other since grade two and went through thick and thin. Jen was overweight in the past and still struggles with her #weight ever since she was #bullied by her mother as a teenager. Dina, is a super mum and -woman, who loves watches and tries to control everything, however, she has Brianne, a 12-year old teenager and Dina, a 9-year old soon to be a teenager and she often plays with the thought of leaving her marriage because she is not satisfied with her life. And then there is Kyra who loves to date and had many relationships in the past, but now when she believes to have found the right guy (James) - he doesn't want to get serious. Now, after losing weight and getting in shape, Kyra and Chelsea (and of course Jen's mum) expect Jen to #date, yet after being betrayed of her former boyfriend Jay, she can't trust any guy and reads instead of going on dates. So Kyra and Chelsea concoct a plan how Jen can find her true #love after all! First, they sign her to an online dating portal called Soul Mates. And then they contact a guy, named Greg, in Jen's name so she can get to know him via #email. And even though Jen has made a firm commitment to herself not to date anymore, she begins to enjoy her chats with Greg.. I recommend it to all fans of Bridget Jones and Sex and the City or similar series and movies which celebrates the #friendship of women and show that although of their weaknesses, everything can be possible with the assistance of each other. 4-Stars!!! 235 more words. Hello, my dear followers and friends, now I'll present you with the following gem :) The cover: A smart, handsome man with a blunt elegance, a shirt which reveals more than it conceals, dark hair and a groomed beard. A powerful typeface in dark red which appears to be concise. A dark background which is #mysterious and #dangerous. The story: Twenty years ago, the 8-year old Henry, is playing with his playmate Abby until he hears a woman cry for her life. He dashes to the sound and realizes that Abby's dad - Mr Sullivan - is arguing with a heavily pregnant woman. Only a short time afterwards, he also notices the six-year old Keeley is hiding behind a tree. She has pale blue eyes, dark hair, many bruises on her arms and legs and filthy, shattered clothes. Henry wants to be a #knight when he is grown up so he promises her to protect her from all "bad men" by giving her his wooden sword and receiving a token (a shoelace) from her. He gives her the sword since his name (H.W.C.) is written upon it. At present: Keeley is a barmaid in the Cocoon Nightclub. A man gazes at her with unabashed lust. He is obviously a bad boy (a kind Keeley knows much about) and she is fascinated and at the same time enraged by the open interest he shows. But Keeley had enough of bad boys (even though she has livid and wild daydreams when she is gazing at him!). Jax, a former boyfriend with lots tattoos and muscles, yet even more problems he is causing, is a violent drug dealer and also sold drugs to her younger brother Drew. Unfortunately, Drew seems to be addicted again and he stole money and dope from Jax. Now Jax wants to kill them both when Keeley won't get him 10.000 Dollars. Of course, when Jax appears, Henry (the good-looking stranger) rushes to her aid and really gentlemanlike defends her. However can Keeley really trust him after all her bad experience in the past she had with men? And what is Henry's #secret? And where is Drew? A 5-star #romantic #novel with many #twists and #surprises! #bookstagram #books #bücher #romance #romantik

Hello, my friends and followers, this time is about Romantasy :) If you follow my blog long enough, you should already know that I like a mix of: #romance, #fantasy and #mystery (maybe a bit of #humor, too) :D. About the author: Lena Klassen has written #novels for 15 years - especially her spectacular fantasy books should be mentioned. Some of her series are: Magyria, #1, Wild, Die Wandler #1 and Die Legenden der Unaschkin 1. Her books and characters are so #unique since they don't conform to the popular stereotypes. They are instead original and #exceptional. Moreover, her words are so detailed descriptions that you feel you are in the middle of the story. Her novels are all about inscrutable #secrets, #magic and the end can never be prophesied (another advantage I think). :) The Cover: There is the face and hand of a girl with white blonde hair. She is almost like a ghost. Her contours are instinct on the right side or they dissolve in pixels like in an old film. Behind her is a crack in the white wall. The girl is looking at two figures in blue, which are standing behind the wall in the shadows. Next to the two shadowy figures is a violet-blue flower and spiral pattern. The same design appears in the typeface "Sternschatten", however in gold. All in all, the cover picture is beautiful, magical and mysterious. Poem "Zerbrich nicht" Lena Klassen added a #poem at the beginning of the story, written by the main character Blue. I love it when authors write poems at the beginning or for each chapter. You can empathize with the people in the story more and the plot. It is thorough and it can be read as a dark prediction which is lying ahead for Blue. Plot: Blue is rather an #unconventional person who is looking forward to the day that her lost father will come back from Scotland. She loves independent bands and her name originates from her father's passion for collecting everything which is blue. Unfortunately the reserved Scot will probably never return and he picked up all his personal things without leaving a message. ... 4-Stars!!! I can't wait to read the 2nd installment! 232 more words. Hello, my friends and followers, this is part 1 of the Stella and Sol Series written by Kimberly Loth. It's an #adventurous start and describes well the two #kingdoms Stella and Sol, one where the sun never gets darker, and the other where the sun never will shine. It is about the lonely High Prince Leo of Stella, whose only real friend is his sister Candace with whom he can admit his feelings and he is also one of the few who remained single in his large family of twelve brothers and sisters. The kingdom of Stella is full of #magic utensils and is used frequently among the city dwellers. But it is also known as being barbaric and archaic for its use of magic and free will and dark #rumors are spread beyond the wall which separates Stella and Sol. Sol, on the other hand, reminds the reader of Big Brother, punishments are evoked unless every citizen do their duty and think about their position in society first. Zwaantie is the Princess of the Kingdom of Sol and even though she gets daily rebukes for forgetting her obligation as first child and later Queen of Sol, she keeps her feet on the ground when it is about people and the kingdom in general. Furthermore, she only wants to be normal and humane and tries to be as much as she can for example by helping the midwife and befriending with Phoenix and Luna, her slaves. And instead of going to tea parties or to follow her mother's advice to be the right and perfect example of a #princess, she is a strong and a curious personality. However, there is a dark prophecy which also needs to be addressed: A powerful and long lasting bond needs to be created between the kingdom of Sol and Stella or otherwise #vipers will devour them all. Yet is it possible, between the age old enemies to bridge the gulf between their discrepancies and preconceptions? A #thrilling and beautifully written novel which #medieval elements and excellent colorful descriptions of magic. 5 Stars! #bookstagram #fantasy #books #bücher #bookstagram #bigbrother

This is the first in the sci-fi #series about Regina Valensky, a Search Out and Destroy Officer (shortly SOAD), who is having a vacation on board of a #space cruise ship, called Pyramid One. But instead of relaxing and holidaying, she is studying people and their behaviour and is trying to blend in like a spy. And that's not hard to understand because her job is hunting and taking down criminals. Regina is a dedicated bounty hunter who has a strong belief in her ideas of morality and how the world should function or not. And that means that all criminals who are acting against the law, need to be eliminated. Not long after she showed up on the board of the Egyptian like cruise ship, Regina is moving towards the lounge, named "The Club" which is presenting all kinds of entertainment like Tube televisions with sports shows, video games, pool tables, etc. Here she meets Roy, a middle-aged, short man who is obviously leering at her and is giving her a strange vibe. However, soon he vanishes like her memory of the next 12 hours. Regina is on the 4th passenger level. It's too quiet and vacant and she only finds piles of clothes and passenger doors which were seemingly opened hours ago. It's eerie and after witnessing a deep orange glow emanated under the door next to her with the connection of feeling unwell and sick, she hurries to leave the place. … A pleasant start of a new series with #interesting character development. Some information could have been left out though, for example the video game, the Kill Zone and some personal facts about the characters which didn't help to carry the story forward. Anyway, the plot is improving after Chapter 9 and it is getting thrilling and really fun to read. After that it is a real page-turner. 129 more words. This is the first of the series, called "Dronetown" written by Jackson Dean Chase. The Cover: It shows Vikka, the 15-year old green eyed ginger, and Zan, the boy with the chestnut hair and soulful brown eyes looking at each other in a familiar way at each other. Below them is the city of New World Plutonomy where they live, which resembles New York and which promise to guarantee for better times when all residents do what they have to do. The front is rendered in blue, dark colours, whereas the typeface is silver and white. The title is in capital letters and the "O" of "Drone" indicates a blue star in the middle. Behind the story: Dronetown is a place for people who are bred only for working, so the elite has a better and easier life. They live in LivRite Apartments which are broken dwellings and live under the most horrible living conditions. Drones (the workforce) have short lives, so they are "no drain" for society. They work at an early age on, they marry with 18 and reproduce with 21 and die with 40. Their life is divided in 7 days 12 hours shifts where they work in the factory. Most marriages come into being by taking part of the factory marriage lotteries. Drones have no privacy and almost none know what real love or individuality is. The world we are aware of, changed in this reality because of overpopulation, pollution, wars and corrupt governments which killed people instead of helping them. The consequence was that big, multinational companies formed the new government called, the New World Plutonomy. It consists of the council of seven which made a pledge that as moguls they would create a safe future, so that everyone would have a shelter and food. And domes were built so the citizen wouldn't need to breathe the polluted air and subways connected them. Of course, there was resistance at first and some residents joined unisons, however, they were punished with death and the few who got away, are now hidden and are called the "Revolution". … 5-Stars!!! 416 more words. Unassimilated, written by Michael Benzehabe, is an approach to connect Christian, Muslim and Jewish people all over the world. It is Benzehabe's first #thriller and is about Zoe Mousa, a small, but brave woman, a Jewish orphan, adopted by a Muslim family. The story begins on May 7th, 2012. Zoe and four other women are taken hostage, one girl is dead, the blood streams soundlessly under her body, and the captor threatens another girl to hand over the codes. Zoe and the four women are strapped to chairs with a view to the Pacific Ocean, however Zoe's only concern is the senseless murder of the girl in front of her. Zoe lived in a small Iranian town, near the Caspian Sea, named Noshahr with her two sisters, Sarah and Jamileh Delkash, before one jihadist shot her foster father and others raped her sisters. After that and other secrets of her dark past, Zoe went to America - stranded between two worlds, she lives in dysphoria and only for her dream: to buy an American house where her two sisters and her can live in peace. However, it seems like Zoe can't escape her past and the brutality and death, she left behind in the Middle East. Besides that, Zoe will only get her visa if she can fulfill the task the government gave her. Currently Zoe lives in Claremont Village, a sleepy college town, yet nobody knows that she belongs to the internet crime specialists, FBI Coordinator Tom Hollister and Dora Flores, the Cyber Division Office Field Support, and that she can crack codes where nobody even guess that there is something hidden. The story is also about the all day struggles Zoe faces in America, for example, when she wants to buy a car even though she has no licence or the time she roasted a goat in her garden. These scenes show a lot of the author's subtle humour and how small cultural diversities can raise questions or issues if not handled well in beforehand …. 5-Stars! 128 more words. "A Fairly Fairy Tale" is Sunshine's Somerville's first #children's #book with #medieval elements. It is about the #cheerful, independent 19-year old Littagale who rather wants to experience and go on #adventures than marrying a #prince. However, it is time for Littagale to marry because her father, King Wesick can't deny the marriage proposals of every prince for a thousand miles anymore and each day more and more arrive. That's why Littagale and her stepmother Mattea plan to get Littagale away from the palace and who could help more than a kidnapping #dragon who is the most feared and prominent in the whole country? It's wonderful to see how Littagale breaks out of her difficult position she is in and how instead of being the #damsel-in distress, she gains the reader's heart by being the #hero herself and having thoughtful and #insightful ideas of her own. Of course, there is also the enemy: the arrogant, egoistic Prince Deke of Archwild with his black clothes and blond, slicked black hair who only wants the crown to gain with all costs. Plus Points: It is correctly formatted for younger children so the fairy tale can be used as one of the first reading experiences. And the main characters are mostly good role models and positive characters whom the young children can identify with. There is the lisping cousin Opal, the elderly aunt Maeve, the humorous Prince Nolan, who always loves to snatch some yummy food out of sight, the lovely stepmother Mattea, who can't cook and the kind Prince Casper is some of the most relevant and favorite of mine. I also really love the descriptions of the dragon and how he is introduced at first. … All in all, it is an #imaginative, little story with a different turn and story than usual for a fairy tale and with many pleasant adventures and figures and therefore a nice story you can read with your schoolchildren together or for 10-12-year old’s who are excited and fascinated by fairy tales in general. It is also a #delightful for holiday reading! 3-Stars! 588 more words. Full review: https://goo.gl/K2hjeH #fairytale #bookstagram #books #bücher

"Avis Blackthorn: Is Not an Evil Wizard!" is the first book of the children's #fantasy #series, written by Jack Simmonds. Why did I pick the #book and what makes it so #special? Of course, I was firstly intrigued about the unusual title and the #magical cover which reminded me a lot about Hogwarts. But it is much more than a replica of that. It is about Avis Blackthorn, the seventh son of a magical family who lives in Happendance, the fourth of the seven magical kingdom which is surrounded by forests and hosted by magical creatures. All members of Avis' familiy are evil and feel pride and satisfaction working for the most evil high master: Malakai. His mum is a fierce, ever working witch. His mum is a fierce, ever working witch. His father, a good-looking and popular fellow. Avis has three older sister, named Marienne, Getrude and Wendice and three elder brothers called: Rory, Gary and Ross. And all feel deeply ashamed of Avis "goodliness". The Blackthorn family dwells in the "Darkhampton manor", a most annoying, cold and ruined place, if you ask Avis. The Plot: The story begins at the end of the summer holidays. Only a few more days and Avis is going to the Hailing Hall School for Wizard, a boarding school for wizard and witches in training. Avis is constantly tricked by his elder brothers, for example, when his younger sister marries a prince, his brothers pretend that Avis got the dress of his sister dirty with trifle and them pull down his trousers in front of the 300 assembled guests. Even his butler seems to hate Avis and he is grounded in the highest turret they have (because Avis fears height the most). And the worst is, Avis doesn't even want to compete with his brothers and sisters since he rather likes to stay alone and loves to read. Only his best friend is his fluffy rabbit Sedrik and unfortunately he is not very talented in magic, so he can't even get revenge on his irritating brothers and sisters. ... Edo's Awakening is the first #story of the Conscious Dreamer Series, written by Sharolyn G. Brown. The cover really intrigued me with its deep blue color and the vortex in the left upper corner. It somehow reminded me of Van Gogh's "The Starry Night". Background information: The society in the novel has different castes. The Keeper who are the Gods and who can’t be seen, but who listen to all thoughts and punish everyone who is not a responsible citizen, the Keeper's representatives who are formed in every section and who enforce the rules, the Talented and Honored Citizen caste who fulfilled their mission and are respectable residents, the Dream #travelers who are the middle-class and who can advance when they fulfill their mission and the lower classes: the helpers and the laborers who more or less remain in their caste and who need to check the food and arrange the goods. All residents should obey "the Gods" and serve their purpose or they no longer deserve to live in the eyes of the keepers. The castes can be recognized on the basis of their clothing, for example: travelers wear blue, helper and laborer green and the Keeper's representatives brown ropes. The lives of the lower and middle-class residents are mostly restricted to a small section, yet helper and laborers only can use a common room. The Plot: The main character, Edo, is a #dream traveler, called Beta 56-02-12 who has an earth connection whose name is Liam who should help him to build and test rocket engines for mass production. Edo is responsible that Liam fulfill his tasks. They both have a mental bound to each other. Edo's task is to influence Liam and Edo also accompanies Liam in his dreams. His other duties are going to mental training and physical conditioning classes. … Summary: An #exciting, new #dystopia and sci-fi novel with a socially #critical message, written by Sharolyn G. Brown. I can't wait to read the next and to hear more about Edo's #adventure. 5 Stars!!! 64 more words. "The Call of her Pack" is the third installment in the Whiskey Springs Pack #series and a #shifter #romance, written by Stella Night. It is about Liza Anderson, who is working as a waitress at Betty's Home Cookin', a diner with 60s #charm, located in West Texas for over a year. She changed from being a thin, stylish and arrogant woman who was wearing designer clothes to a down-to-earth, curvy and thoughtful one who is living a simple life. Liza just served Patty Dugan and Janie Lee Hoggins, two of her regular customers, when her life is knocked off balance by smelling the familiar scent of home and seeing a well-known face: Jack Kincaid. And this is causing strange and #intense feelings in her. Liza is #surprised and feels attracted to the #appealing fire fighter who has wavered, black hair, sea-green eyes and a woodsy, masculine smell. The last time she caught a glimpse of him, was three years ago when she left Whiskey Springs in a rush to get out of her troubles she caused before. Jack was just hunting with Danny Curtis, his best friend, for rogues down around San Antonio after Jack was out of medical leave when they were both hungry for hamburgers. And he is immediately enchanted by Liza and her golden eyes. Not long Liz learns from Jack that Ella, the Alpha mate is searching for her and want her to be brought back. Hello, my dear followers and friends, this time I'm reviewing a #paranormal novel full of #romance, #action, flying with #dragons, new #species from other #planets, dangerous encounters and experiencing #famine and #loneliness. The cover: It has a light blue typeface and we can see a young woman who is hiding behind a tree. Around her is a #forest and next to her a black and gray striped #cat. The sun rises and she is looking at a lake and high up in the sky is a dragon. The Plot: Kimi Wicker spends her Friday night like most Friday nights in the McMillan's Tavern, a country and western bar in Oregon, where she is working with her roommate Amanda Cross as a barmaid. Nothing seems out of the ordinary until Kimi catches sight of a well-build man with long, wavy, red hair and freckles who is alarming her in a high degree though she doesn't know why. However, even though Kimi doesn't recognize the stranger, he knows her full first name she never revealed to others than her closest family members: Kimberly. He also has an odd accent and he is full of hard angles and tight muscles. Kimi already wants to persuade Amanda to serve the stranger when suddenly a new blonde haired stranger arrives, dressed in black, with very kissable lips and silver streaks in his hair. All at once misty white light out of his eyes is reaching out to Kimi which swirls around her and forms a twister. The good-looking stranger also seems to speak in her mind and the twister is spinning more and more around her. Kimi feels like she is filled with immense power which the outsider declares is a gift just before Kimi is blind for a few moments and feels sick. Only after Amanda and the freckle-faced bartender with the red bangs, named Keith, help her to regain composure, is Kimi able to analyze her situation and she is able to see fuzzy images after a while. … 5-Stars, solely for the saucy and amusing comments Keith and the others made and for the #astonishing and #impressive flying lesson on a real dragon! 221 more words. Hello, my dear followers and friends, it is about real #friendship and false friends, extended #battle scenes and the closeness and togetherness of one group. Background information: Aleka is the daughter of one of the elders of the Amazonian #tribe. The Amazonian tribe consists of only women who are trained in fighting with all kinds of weapons and who normally develop #magical abilities at the age of 13. For example, Desdemona has the power over fire, Luna can summon water, Looki can change appearances and Cyrene, Aleka's mother, can command lightning. The Elders manage the Amazons. Amazons are stronger, taller and faster than normal human women. They live at a common campsite and as nomads. It is frowned upon to love a human man. They are sworn enemies with the Greeks. The Plot: Aleka has no magical abilities and is inexperienced in weapons training. Aleka is known to have her head in the clouds and some believe she is still a bit too childish to go into battle (which is an honour for Amazons). She fears not to be respected enough by her elders and her mother And she also lives in the shadow of her mother who is a great warrior and leader. Aleka also can't discuss about the mystical abilities the rest of her age group has. Aleka also feels like something is holding her back so she can't advance her abilities. That's why she mostly feels like an outsider between the Amazonian, except with her best friend Delia. Unfortunately Delia vanished from one day to another. And what is even worse that Cyrene believes that Delia is in love with the enemy, a Greek soldier, named Artrois and that's the reason Delia left camp. Alaska is of course upset and she wants to search for Delia in #secret. However, her mother already told Cassie to bring Aleka back. Cassie is the one of all people Aleka don't stand and can't get along because Cassie seems to be all Aleka can never be: Cassie is admired by the elders, she is a great warrior and has the love and respect of Cyrene. … Summary: A wonderful story full of adventures, love and a surprising twist. 5- Stars!!! #bookstagram #fantasy #amazons #warrior #exciting #fivestars #bücher #books

"The Heaviness of Knowing" is a sci-fi story about the parallel worlds, Earth and Trebor, which exist in the same solar system. The Plot: Roxal doesn't want to attract attention by any means. She is a dream #traveler positioned in Trebor. Her mate, Edo, revealed to her that the Keeper's representatives, their leaders, only manipulate the citizen of Trebor so they could use them for their own desires. The Keeper's representative wants to bring the residents into one line. The highest in the hierarchy are the Keeper's representatives who present themselves as godlike creatures. Even the architecture reflects this reality (the lower your rank, the lower your seating area). Briefly, the commoner of Trebor live in a totalitarian system. Children are born in birth pods up to 30 children. The adolescents have to train and are educated together until they are 10. Then the young ones are introduced to the caste system by carrying out an aptitude test which differs between dream traveler and non-traveler. And only the obedient can advance to become part of the Talented and Honored caste which is one caste down to the Keeper's representatives. More unscheduled glorious session happens because blasphemers who are in reality resistors of the systems are killed openly in public. Roxal's #earth connection is Lauren. An Earth connection means that Roxal has the ability to connect with another person on Earth by means of her dreams. ... Summary: All in all, an exciting start of a new series. I only distract one point because sometimes the change between the alternating persons happened to abruptly, especially in the last chapters, and so it was not always possible to have an immediate overview. Some complicated technical terms were also named which could confuse the reader a bit. But it is a great #read and really #beautiful descriptions of the planet Trebor show that it really deserves fully four stars :)! 54 more words. Francesca, known as the princess or shortly Fify von Richmond with her blonde hair and member of Los Angeles' society; Olive or Oyl with her stunning shoulder-length hair and dark eyes who is writing magazine articles for the Rolling Stones, but whose financial situation had gotten out of control; and Lily, the eternal hippie with her girlish curves and who is a talented herbalist. Life seems normal, but changes dramatically out of sudden: Five police cars are surrounding Lily's cottage and have taken her to the police office for cultivation and possession for the sale of marijuana. Fify‘s husband Fred is dying of a heart attack after committing many years of domestic violence and abuse of his wife. And then Olive who lives in a townhouse on the Venice beach boardwalk for the last ten years and who thought she could live there her rest of her life. However the gigs had slowed down and Olive has fallen behind on her rent. Olive had less than a week to move out and her debts are 45,000 Dollars. Besides of that, like her mother and sister Olive has the BRCA1 mutation and so breast cancer. Her only chance: a mastectomy and reconstruction of the breast tissue. … Summary: All in all, a #splendid story with sympathetic characters and an #amazing plot. Sometimes the length of the chapters was too long though, and unnecessary info added. The end also was a bit unbelievable, especially with Fify who judged people very harshly at the beginning and who reformed to be a peace-loving hippie afterwards. I like the intention of the author that she changed and the happy end, I only believe her change could be more gradually happen instead of almost instantly. 248 more words. "Puppet Dreams" is Jose, Sevilla Ho's first children's book. It is about Paul and his unusual friendship with Dum Dum, a #marionette. It reminded me a lot of Pinocchio and Geppetto, only fabricated in today's world. The Plot: Paul's mother is upset that Paul is spending more and more time with Dum Dum, his dummy, rather than playing with children. Paul is also sleepwalking and stutters and that's why he should see the doctor. The reason why every grown up is believing Paul is behaving oddly is that his mother and father are separated. But Paul knows the truth: his marionette is alive! Paul got the doll on a school field trip to a puppet museum and Dum Dum, the manikin, moved into his bag to run away from his awful owner, Marc. And with the time Paul really feels like Dum Dum and he became #friends: they play games, Dum Dum helps him not to stutter and they have many #adventures together. But Paul's mother announce soon that the puppet needs to find his former owner or "she will throw the damn thing in the bin!" (Position 84) However the puppet also has kind of a bad side and Dum Dum instigate Paul to run away from home, to beg, to steal, to sniff fumes and drink alcohol, etc. It also seemed to have a split personality, one who is kind and thoughtful and one who is kind of reckless and mean. Unfortunately Dum Dum never really seems to learn out of his mistakes and he often makes friends with the wrong people. What I also didn't like that the grown up world with its rules and principles was often shown black and white: the pleasures and advantages life brings (and some things which are still kind of taboos like two timing, harem, run from the law) are depicted as almost always being positive even though for example fumes can cause health issues and stealing is bad. ... 3-Stars! 323 more words. "Prince of the Moon" is the second installment of Stella and Sol, written by Kimberly Loth. The cover: It shows a beautiful two-divided cover of the technological and #magical, sophisticated #kingdom Stella above with the #moon and #stars. And below the sunny and warm Stella which emphasize its #agriculture and #nature. Symbols: All chapters have beautiful, intricate designs of the moon next to the chapter number. Map: The book also includes an advanced overview of the kingdom of Stella and Sol and the wall between them (you can use the zoom function for it on the Kindle, which is really helpful and nice when you want to know exactly where Zwaantie and Leo are going during their travels). The Plot: Zwaantie, the main character, is finally in Stella. But her stay in Stella is so much different than she thought it would be: First it is morning so there are no stars (in Sol it is never dark, so Zwaantie never saw stars or the moon) instead lights floating in the air near her head. Secondly, her lover Phoenix vanished. And third, Zwaantie forgot what happened when she crossed the wall. Besides that, the differences between the two kingdoms couldn't be stronger: Sol only had houses with maximal four floors, whereas Stella has at least apartments with ten till fifteen stories and the buildings in the city are even hundred floors tall. Then the air is warm and humid in Stella, in Sol it was always cold and dry. And everywhere Zwaantie looks are factories and there is actually a clothing district with many shopping opportunities. All buildings are brightly coloured, the streets have a hard surface and there is no real trees or grass in the city (only illusions). Sol in contrast stand for its landscape and its field crops. (For the reader's understanding nature: Sol has stopped its technical advancement which resembles our middle age, Stella on the other hand is in our era.) Zwaantie doesn't really know if she likes the artificial beauty of Stella. She likes imperfection and to be normal. In Stella, however it is normal to stand out. ... Five Stars!! 387 more words. „Avis Blackthorn and the Ring of Enchantment“ is the prequel of the Avis Adventure #series, written by Jack Simmonds. It plays six weeks before Avis starts Hailing Hall School for Wizards. The Cover: It is an interesting drawing with Avis, the #rabbit and the #pig and is also #funny and suitable for the readers. The Plot: The 12-year old Avis Blackthorn is the only good #wizard in a family which consists only of evil wizards who are serving Malakai, the most evil wizard of all time. The #magical kingdom is in another dimension than the Outside (where all normal, non-magical people live). The Blackthorns live in the Darkhampton Manor, a #castle where darkness always resides, even though the castle lays in the sunniest kingdom of all. Nothing grows there and it’s no fun for Avis because he is bullied by his nine older siblings, for example Marianne and Gertrude change him into a mouse. Besides of that, Avis is a bitter disappointment for his parents because Avis is so good. And his name also leads to that he has no friends and no foe, and therefore he is the #loner of the family. And not even the Butler Kilkenny from Ireland likes Avis. One day, his parents are on their way to poison a princess and Avis gets a warning that if he doesn’t „cause any damage around the castle, there will be severe punishment around the castle.“ Of course, Butler Kilkenny wants that Avis does all the housework because Kilkenny is lazy and Avis has no chance to defend because Kilkenny would starve him otherwise and Avis only went to theoretical magical training. So Avis is really anxious and excited to go to the magical school and he also can’t wait to use his #chancellor (you can’t do real magic without one). And the chancellor his family have, is an exceptional one: the Ring of Enchantment, the most prized possession in the magical world. Ernie has almost no time because of his tests. "Brand Identity" is a successful how-to manual for new #entrepreneurs, #startups who needs a new message and established businesses who try to #rebrand their image. It's about how companies like to tend only to look at the figures, but that their core values and character is important, too. The author indicates this by describing how you are on a deserted island and that you have certain items with you and others not. And that the most relevant question is, if you try to start and make the best of what you have or despair about your fate. No matter what- you and your #brand changes with your challenges and if you embrace the adaption, you and your brand can become greater than you were before. This can also broaden your view. We all have certain abilities or #expert knowledge in some areas which can make the difference when #customers categorize your items in good or great. Or shortly, „don’t follow the path of least resistance“ (Position 488). What can you and your creation provide for the target group by being you (Or why should they care?). You need to understand your clients first though, and what best skills and tools best suits them (market empathy). The ultimate question is „How do I create value?“(position 333) which leads that either the consumer buys your product or not. If your target group is emotionally connected to your product and sees its core values like practical implementation, a convincing cost performance ration or a certain status you get with it, then they will rather purchase it. And you need a specific value or better: values to differentiate your product from others (Unique Selling Proposition = USP). These are not a bonus, but something which makes your merchandise valuable. It is crucial to make the information you present „easily digestible“ (Position 396). The author presents his idea by illustrating how the movie industry makes a story compelling. (202 more words. Full review: https://goo.gl/BC9wHc) #bookstagram #howtomanual #great #easytouse

"Technocracy in America", written by Parag Khanna is a #thesis based on Plato's idea of political aristocracy which puts a committee of "Guardians" for the protection of the public additional to the available democratic structures. Parag Khanna’s work contains in particular complex matters about #politics and #history which are difficult to follow up for everybody. It illuminates especially Khanna’s personal views and reflects less a broader range of opinions. Parag Khanna assumes the status of America’s political and economic progress as stagnant or even to continue to decline. Khanna prefers snapshots of economic and political overviews instead of long-term analysis. His statements are above all in an elevated form and scientifically explained. The outline of his thesis is clearly recognizable, only his variations are getting lost. Throughout the book, Khanna tries to inspire his #readers. Accordingly, to that he uses a transparent table of contents and the cover is chosen to signal change. However, some negative points need to be said: First of all, the cover is too dark so the elements go largely unnoticed. The same is with the charts which begin to lose clarity and transparency because the angel is chosen (90° to the text) which makes it impossible to read the stated facts on an eReader. The colours of the charts are mostly ok, yet the author should work with brighter colours instead of grey and black. The zoom function should also be considered. Which makes it even sadder is that facts are not covered with charts or surveys so the reader understand the author’s presentation fully, nor it is manageable to turn the available two (!) charts for examination. The typeface of the text is catching the eye of the reader (Except when it is about the charts and footnotes. The author should show the font in bold or highlight more). The quotations originate from a large collection and are mostly well-chosen. 260 more words. https://goo.gl/jKQB #bookstagram #criticalreview

This makes it difficult for her to pursue her real #love: Invier because her family is 2nd in rank and Invier’s family is on the last spot. She knows that her father will never allow a marriage between her and Invier because Invier's rank in society is so low and she hast o marry into a profitable alliance. Great #dystopia novel with many #surprises and interesting characters. 5-Stars! #bookstagram #theselection #bachelorette #great #fantastic #recommended

"The Byzantine Connection“ is the third installment of the Stella Hunter #mystery. The Cover: It looks interesting with the golden mask and the dark haired woman. The typeface is elegant in blue and gold, which reflect the colours of the mask. There is also gold dust around the edges of the mask and face. The Plot: Carter and Stella are in the Detroit’s Saint Hedwig’s church to talk with Father Malvan. Farther Malvan was an old friend she met 24 years ago when she was finishing her doctorate at Michigan University. Stella wants that Father Malvan identify the script of a Byzantine script so she can correctly reference the text in her new #book. Stella loves medieval literature, excursions into castles, churches, etc. One of her personal callings is to catch a Serbian fraud, named Dr. Jovanov, who’d published a book three years ago that every castle and monastery in Europe is hiding a treasure. The result was that strangers began plundering every castle or monastery available in their near. Suddenly, Carter is observing an old Oriental couple who is walking towards him and a ripple effect is taking place: In an instant they are significantly younger like a newlywed couple. The priest also has something curious to reveal: after eleven o’clock last night someone made a delivery of an unfinished red and gray granite statue. The pastor believes that he saw the stigmata on the statue and he is known as being reasonable. He also studied medicine and has a degree in psychology and it is not common for him to have hallucinations. Thirty years ago, the cleric witnessed his first stigmata in Peru. In the meanwhile Stella finds more about the script. It was written by three people over fifty or sixty years. It was discovered in the Greek Sintorini Monastery. It describes a fleet which carried treasure from Alexandria to Rome. However, the pirates threatened the fleet and they headed to the Aegean. Yet the pirates won and unloaded the treasure on one of the islands. When Stella discovers more about the granite stone, she realizes that they have to destroy it. (190 more words. „Brainwalker“ is a YA #science fiction #novel about Bernard, who has a vivid imagination and a very curious nature, especially about science. However, since his mother died in an explosion, Bernard and his father have communication problems. The Cover: Wow, it looks simply #amazing with the two cities, the boy standing in the middle and everywhere the #axioms around him. The #drawings: Unfortunately the most drawings in the book are rather quickly made and they appear unpractised which is sad because I loved the cover so much. The Plot: It is about the fourteen year old Bernard, who has issues at school and home because nobody really seems to understand him. Bernard is stressed out because he has to pick a science project soon. The science project wouldn’t be such a dilemma for him since he loves science. However Ms. Needleman is not really understanding when it comes to Bernard’s curious nature. And the only point Bernard and his father have in common is their dog, Milo, who Bernard’s mother rescued from the pound. When his mother was around, their kitchen was a #laboratory and his dad and he spent much time together. Especially star-looking was Bernard’s favourite hobby with his dad. But since his mother died, his father has no time and is afraid that Bernard’s attitude towards science could lead him to the same destiny like his mother. Bernard’s first idea are mushrooms and their hidden messages. Yet when Ms Needleman explains about the #brain and its structure, Bernard gets an even more fabulous plan: He wants to study #wormholes and how these could transport you from one place to another. He often asks intriguing questions like „How does the brain make new thoughts?“, „But is it the thoughts that make the neurons move? Or the #neurons moving that make the thoughts?“ etc. and he has interesting thoughts: „It’s about the possibility that wormholes could… give us access to other dimensions.“ (276 more words. „Mind Massage“, written by Stefan Cockroft is an #easy way method to meditate. At first, Stefan Cockroft arranges the #meditation methods in four parts: An introduction, the basic information, tips for applying the method and a summary at last. Which makes the book #special is that it can be read in three different ways: first, the standard way, which goes deeper, but is also more abstract, then the easier shortcut and at last the wormhole route. It is especially designed for #beginners to have an easy start into meditating. The first method is „The Mat introductory meditation activity“ which I found the most helpful because you imagine the three letters M-A-T and how each letter slowly dissolve and in the end you have the required and wished quietness and silence you need. This approach is also very suitable for busy people because you only need 10-15 minutes. After the meditation, it makes sense to reflect how you feel and if you feel more #peaceful and #calm. Another suggestion is to listen to background music and to use the progressive muscle relaxation method according to Jacobsen (you actively imagine how you relax each muscle beginning with the hands and ending with the feet) so you get into a more composed state. Slowly breathing in and out four or five times also help a lot in this process. What I really liked about the book is the remark that it is important to stay positive and kind to you. You often tense up a lot if you have certain expectations how a meditation needs to be. And I also liked that the author listed the benefits of meditation, e.g., increased immune function, lowered anxiety, reduced stress, boosted emotional intelligence, increase in grey matter in the brain and the brain volume, improved attention, memory and creativity etc. (325 more words. „Love so innocent“ is the debut novel, written by Moshe Trotman. It is about the #romance story of Lauren and Jimmy Silvester. It takes place in Connecticut in 2011. The Plot: Jimmy Silvester is meeting Lauren, his childhood friend, when a house of a neighbour burned down. It was three years ago since Jimmy’s heart was broken by his former girlfriend Abisha. However, Jimmy is afraid to admit that he loves Lauren, especially because Mr. Cedric, Lauren’s father threatened him years ago. Jimmy is first and foremost an electrician and that’s why some of his neighbours believe that he installed the connecting wires in a wrong way. Besides of that Jimmy is a dog sitter. Another problem is that Lauren has temporarily a boyfriend, called Raymond who is rich. But she is not happy with him. Be that as it may, her mother Martha pursues that Raymond and Lauren get together because they would be a good match. Have Lauren’s and Jimmy’s love a chance? Beautiful metaphors and sentences highlight the story: „Come quick before it goes, and before you start meditating on life’s sweetness.“ The writing is quite #poetic, yet the dialogue and descriptions are unproportional more present than the rest so the pace can be quite slow from time to time. Primarily, it lasts a long time before Jimmy confesses that he loves Lauren, although everyone has been already aware of his emotions before. 4-Stars! #debutnovel #bookstagram #story #conneticut #beautiful

„Thirty Days In Quito“ is a #travelling companion, written by K. Kris Loomis. Kris and her husband Hugh lived three years in Ecuador with their #cat Triplet. This #novel is about the thirty days they spent in Quito. Cover: It looks nice with the cat on the suitcase over the map which shows South America. It is harmonious with the beige and brown colours. The typeface is distinct and vast. The front fuels the desire to #travel and awakens the spirit of adventure. Plot: Kris never took a vacation outside the state of South Carolina, where she lives, but the summer she turned forty-five, she and her husband Hugh decided to plan a lifetime trip to South America. They moved to South America in July of 2013 and their first destination was Quito. By the way, Ecuador is one of the favourite destinations for retirement for Americans. Many funny experiences lead to another: first, Kris has to take Triplet, a rather shy cat, into her arms so they could go to the detector, all around them noisy and busy people and Kris was checked for explosives while holding the cat; the clown taxi they took to their way, to Quito; the key-banging episodes; the spiral staircase with no handrail; the Frankenstein shower and many more occurrences which will make you laugh out loud! I really liked how many facts the author listed and what you should know when you are travelling to South America and how South America is different to countries in the Western World. Especially her personal experiences and the mistakes she admitted they made, helps to give the reader a full impression on the people and their way of living. What I also loved is that the author described her #trip in the view of a pet owner because it can be really stressful for animals to #journey on a trip or tour if you are not prepared enough to fulfill their needs and check their security. 5-Stars for a really well-described and an entertaining travelling companion! Effortless #reading“, written by Vu Tran is a how-to manual for speed reading. This book is specially made for people who read less than fifty #books a year. Speed reading is used by many people, e.g. Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk. It promises that you can spend only fifteen minutes every day for reading. One of the main points of Vu Trans’s method is only to read the paragraph which helps you the most and to skip the rest of the book. But can you really say then that you read the book? I think if it’s not a #non-fiction book, then I disagree since a #novel can be beneficial for you because you read all content and things which weren’t on your mind before. You get curious because you learn about other subjects which are out of your box and not the same stuff you already know. Ok, maybe the method can be practical if you need to learn in school to get the main idea of a novel or if you need to do a presentation of the basics, etc. And maybe, some #readers won’t mind if they don’t read how the author introduces characters, builds pace or how the author succeeds in keeping the reader’s interest… However if you LOVE books, that’s why you read at all. Of course with so many choices of #paperbacks and #ebooks nowadays, it is difficult to choose the right one. And that’s what Vu Tran got right after all. You need to evaluate before you buy a book if it fits your current situation. If you are separated and angry about your ex, reading a book about marriage and finding luck, is maybe not the right choice for you. Or if you love YA novels, a book about a middle-aged woman in her midlife crisis might be not suitable… Or if you love animals and the dog dies because of the carelessness of the main character, you might just hate the main character and the novel afterwards. And why spent angry tears on something you don’t like? I guess, these are moments in which you really have to listen to your own reactions and your heart… And when you really don’t like the novel, it will not be better if you only finish it so you can admit that you read the novel after all. King of the Stars is the third book in the Stella and Sol #series, written by Kimberly Loth. The #novel plays after Zwaantie finds out that the Old Mother Wilma, the midwife, she knew since she was a child, told her that Zwaantie was responsible for every child the #vipers killed. And that after the midwife tried to #murder her. Cover: A #stunning front with the #kingdom of Stella above and the kingdom of Sol below. Plot: Ari, the son of the king of Stella and legacy to the throne, confessed to Zwaantie, the daughter of the king of Sol, his #love. However Zwaantie discovered that she can only rescue the children in Stella against the #attacks of the vipers when she falls in love with Leo, one of the lower princes. Leo meanwhile, is investigating the deaths of the children, without being aware about Zwaantie’s #secret. Besides Leo is often so much away that Zwaantie has no chance to feel fond of him. Her solely confidante is Sage, who is always around Ari (which is another issue for Zwaantie because in this way she can’t stay away from Ari). Additional to that Zwaantie is despised by the citizens and also Leo’s sister Candace, who got a child recently, called Raaf, even though nobody should have the information that Zwaantie is indeed the culprit! Negative points: It was almost too obvious that after Zwaantie’s crush on Phoenix vanished that she would have a strong fondness for Ari next (although Zwaantie felt intimidated by Ari before and she even seemed to despise him). It is understandable that she can’t alter her emotions towards Ari though. What I criticize, however is that she revision her decision to be close to him or not every other chapter. And despite that you can’t force someone to love another, it seems that practically everyone believes it is possible. Notwithstanding I loved the descriptions of Stella! I loved that there are cat cafés ❤ ❤ ❤ The scene with the field of lovers was so moving and intense 😃 The magic was of course, spectacular like ever and the funny and mysterious parties and encounters with the inhabitants of Stella so exciting!!! Should Zwaantie follow honour and marry Leo or fight for her love to Ari?

„Proem“ is the prequel of the Nome Chronicles, written by F. F. John. The #cover: It looks beautiful with the violet dress and the silver typeface. By the way, I love the preliminary remarks at the beginning of her novels. ❤ ❤ ❤ This time it is: „proem (n). Meaning: a preface or preamble to a #book or speech; a beginning“. Plot: The novel starts at the party of the Nome Opitz, who are celebrating the joining between Scioness Enyama Damil and Doge Lance Singer. It is a society where looks, ranks and gossip rule and only your family name and Nome decides who you are marrying and what your future career will be. Neith like all the other party goers consist of the Group of Twenty. Then there are the sixty lower houses which are servants and workers. And the last is the districts which nobody visits because there are filled with poor and sick residents. The result is that rebels make the times harder and dangerous. A pairing is more like a business contract between families which should guarantee that the wealth and prestige of the nomes don’t get lost. At this event it becomes clear how Neith likes to use her power and influence to get the latest news from the citizen, to entertain herself by giving an underage girl Pomrose alcohol or by getting special bonus e.g. penny cakes. Net and Bel, her best friend, nearly dies of boredom until they get the secret out of Madina that her sister Adaora actually loves Lance, however the nome of Enyama ranks higher than Adaoras. Besides Neith is thrilled that her own pairing is soon coming up, yet she doesn’t know what will happen in between… What will happen in light of the endangerment through the rebels? Why is Neith changing her opinion, so abruptly? And can Neith really always get what she wants? A thrilling and fast paced dystopia which is only the beginning of the occurrences which will come to pass. It reminds me of the metaphor „the quiet before the storm“. I love the friendship between Bel and Neith and how Bel stands up against the stubborn Neith, although Neith has a higher rank than her. (39 more words. „Blood Moon Magick“ is the second installment, written by S.M. Blooding. It happens two days after Paige Whiskey was in Louisina to investigate crime scenes caused by a serial murder and exchanged the life of Dexx for the key to hell. The cover: It’s beautiful, dark and in the main colours: blue, green, black, red and white. You get instantly a magical feeling 😊. Besides: This time, the author added a soundtrack (I absolutely love! books and manga with additional soundtracks) for Blood Moon Magic. An album full of action and adventure 😃And every chapter has a symbol which looks like a bird next to the chapter number. Plot: It begins fast while Paige describes the condition of the crime scene. A Caucasian woman who is thirty two years old, was murdered. She has cuts all over her face and arms and only wears her evening gown and right shoe. The woman was in a glass building in downtown when the culprit murdered her. A small tattoo of a candelabra is on the victim’s body. Her name is Elizabeth Harwood. She also has a broken neck and nails turned into claws. Everywhere are the gaffers. Since her magical abilities and memory woke up, she’d discovered the connection to nature again and her powers strengthened. However, since Sven, a strong demon cast a spell in her bones that every demon would possess her if Paige was close, it became difficult for her to investigate. And even though Paige is in Denver now, it seems like the crimes followed her and she gets „love letters“ in the form of corpses. Sven is the only demon whom she had issues in the past, but is he or another one, the felon? And although Paige is familiar with her partner, Detective Tony Guerrerro for five years, did she really learn all of his secrets? And what will occur with Dexx, her boyfriend, now? A mysterious and fast-pacing novel with many new encounters of supernatural creatures. I also adored how the relationship between Dexx and Paige finally increased. I recommend it to all lovers of paranormal series, for example Buffy, Supernatural or Teen Wolf. Five Stars!!! „The Girl from the Woods“ is the first fantasy novel, written by Chris Keane. It begins with a dream in which Dante meets a tall and beautiful girl with vibrant red hair. However the dream only lasts some seconds until Kurt, his unnerving big brother is waking him up. They don’t get well on together and their parents are furious about their rants and laziness so one day Kurt and Dante are alone. It becomes clear after a while that the family is rather dysfunctional and no good feelings are shared between the brothers. Kurt and Dante are rather childish and selfish in their own ways (however you don’t need to wonder why when their father’s only wish was to save the college fund by asking their eldest son if he wants a camaro or wants to go to college). Kurt is 23 years old and even though he has done nothing than drinking booze and buying cigarettes, he looks way older because of his negative lifestyle. Dante was the only hope of his parents since he was the brightest, yet he didn’t go to college. But even though their parents are probably moving to Florida soon, it seems like nothing will change, until Dante gets to know the one girl who gets under his skin. Nonetheless of his pleading, Dante is left in his grandma’s care who shows signs of dementia. She lives in a small town where there is no cell phone service and only a small corner shop for the most essential of articles. Be that as it may, Dante makes the acquaintance of his dream girl when he watch her how she is sunbathing near the lake. And the story becomes even more thrilling when Dante discovers how the doctor and the father of his love is involved with the witches of Salem. What I adore about the story: I really love the relationship between Dante and Angie because it presents the all-day struggles a pair must face: responsibility for yourself and the other, the courage to declare one’s love to another and in public and last but not least to see how the relationship proceeds when you don’t see everything through rose-coloured glasses.
