In the meanwhile Lacey Jordan, co-owner of a flower shop, has an uncomfortable feeling in her gut. Paige, her business partner, is on her honeymoon. Paige and Lacey formed the start up and after two years of working very hard so their company could become successful, they found the right co-worker for their team: Sam.

It is Friday night and she can't wait to eat dinner with her father and his new girlfriend, Mona Nicholson. Lacey is calmed that after her mother died when Lacey was eight that her father finally found the right woman to his side and Mona and her dad complement each other in a great way.
If there wasn't Spencer, Mona's child who would constantly get on their nerves because Spencer doesn't like that his mum is ready for a new relationship.

Caleb Mansfield works for BioTech Corporation in Michigan Avenue. He spent 10 months abroad and expanded BioTech in all three distribution channels in Europe and making the final contracts so BioTech could develop into the major player in the European animal nutrition and bioscience market.

Not long after he got back, a FedEx envelope is ready for him from Bill Jordan, his formal mentor. It contains Bill's research on BR-714, including the clinical trial data about a cure for cancer of the digestive system.

But when Lacey is at Mona's house, her dad is missing. The Lacey catches sight of her dad's mobile phone and she gets a call from a man she nearly forgot, Caleb Mansfield. Lacey remembers the summer with him and how Caleb broke her heart by leaving her.

The events escalate soon when Sam is threatened at work and someone attacks Lacey.
