Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me (Unexpected #3) by Chris McHart (English review)

Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me (Unexpected #3)

by
"Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love me" is the third and last installment of the Unexpected series, written by Chris McHart.

The Cover: It shows an intriguing picture with two handsome men and the question: "Can love grow where only hate exists?".

The Plot: At the beginning, Luis is designing his jeans by applying new patches and cutting it at certain places when his mother calls him abruptly. Luis, who is a broke art student, has nearly finished his degree. His mother sounded anxious and he asks himself if his parents are getting divorced because their relationship was not the best in the last time. Or is someone seriously ill?

However Luis couldn't have guessed the real reason: The Vampire King of Munich wants that Gerome, his son, and Luis are mated. In exchange for that his parents will get money and more power.

Yet, Luis doesn't want to meet Gerome even when his parents get privileges then. Especially because it is expected that Luis needs to give up his job and his studies then.

Gerome also has no plans for a mate, but he has no say in it because Alex, with whom he had a one-night stand and who got pregnant as a result, was kidnapped and King Harold only helps him if Gerome agrees in the relationship with Luis (Book 3 continues the plot of 2, only in the perspective of Gerome and Luis).

The rules of society and his bloodline needs to continue so they have no chance. Besides of that, Gerome learned since he was a child that a relationship needs only be based on dominance and obedience. And even though Gerome is not violent and is rather kind instead, he ignores Luis constantly. This upsets Luis much.

And when Gerome finally realizes what a mistake he made, can Luis still forgive him?

And can Gerome learn to forget and really love Luis?

A really nice romantic novel. I also really liked the note the author put at the end of the novel, where she explains that forced marriages still happen and that Amnesty International supports these victims "Please consider joining Amnesty International to support their cause for a world where falling in love and living in peace is possible for everyone". (Position 5615)

5-Stars!!
